There are four prizes presented by the ORS:
The Stell and the Angell-James prizes are each valued at £300, which includes £150 travel expenses to attend and present their paper at the Dutch Otolaryngological Society meeting held in April of each year.
The Junior Presentors Prize winner will be awarded £150.
The winner of the Xomed-Treace prize will receive funding to attend and present at the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery, courtesy of Xomed™, a subsidiary of Medtronic Inc.
The prize is open to all junior staff and consultants (or equivalent) of up to five years standing, who are members of the Society. The research must be on a topic generally accepted to fall within the bounds of otolaryngology and must report a piece of designed research that makes a significant contribution to the subject. The findings should not have been published at the time of the closure date for submissions, but preparatory or establishing papers may be submitted along with the application. This application should take the form of a summary of the work and should not exceed 12 sides of single-spaced text or 24 pages of double-spaced text. This should comprise of a detailed description of the work itself with, if necessary, no more than 4 additional pages containing figures and tables as for a paper submitted for publication. Only one submission per applicant will be eligible. Multi-author work is acceptable, providing that the applicant, who must be the first author, provides a written statement that he/she is the principal researcher of the project. The submission should be e-mailed to the ORS secretary before the closing date, with a covering e-mail containing a list of all authors, institutes, and contact details for the submitting author. The closing date for the next Xomed-Treace Prize is 1st November 2013.
